Community Involvement

Throughout the years NASW-SO has performed community service and remained active in the Greensboro community and on Saturday, March 26th members of NASW-SO volunteered their time to provide lunch and other goodies for residents of Pathways Center. Pathways Center provides homeless families a safe, temporary environment to live while they are searching for other housing. The main form of nutrition the residents receives comes from organizations such as NASW-SO that donate time, food, and effort to feed them.

On Wednesday, March 30th, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), NC Chapter hosted a Lobby Day at the NC General Assembly in Raleigh, NC. Social work students from across the state attended along with social work professionals. Students and professionals had the opportunity to learn lobby do's and dont's and learned about specific legislation that will affect our practice.

Members of NASW-SO had the opportunity to meet with Senator Gladys A. Robinson and discuss current bills and how we, as social work students can contact other senators and legislators to advocate for ourselves and those in our communities.
